ON BROADWAY Broadway, a thin strip of Manhattan, from 53rd to 42nd streets, between 6th and 8th Aves, is the theater
district of New York called the Great White Way. There are approximately 36 theaters crammed into this small area of the city,
which nightly host world famous productions. The music and dances that fill these theaters
are the source of the rhythms in my soul. So, in celebration of the “big 50”, I chose to return to these roots.
When I was born the theaters echoed with “A Thurber Carnival”, “Greenwillow”, “Bye, Bye Birdie”,
and “Oh. Kay”. The classic, “West Side Story” opened six days after my birth. Of course, many, many
more followed. To this day, it is still the Great White Way. The dances that you will watch this evening are re-imaginings
inspired by the music (and sometimes the story) of the original musical. Idea Factory Inc. had been established as a venue
for new productions and “old plays staged in new ways”. Choreography is copyrighted therefore what you
are seeing this evening is my interpretation of each song presented. Sit back and imagine your dancer in the premier
of a new musical revue, “Idea Factory On Broadway”.
